Experience the Outdoors with Us

Happy Parks and Recreation Month! This is one of our favorite times of the year, made even better in 2022 with the launch of an Experience the Outdoors Program and three additional campaigns to boost park awareness and to provide more inclusive, equitable and accessible park experiences.

Championed by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors and managed by the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), the Experience the Outdoors Program encompasses dozens of new events and activities on County land. From Camping and Kayaking 101 to ranger-led excursions and a new mountain biking challenge, curriculum is scheduled to take place in all parts of the County, with topics to appeal to park visitors of interests.

We’re also working to remove barriers that have historically prevented park visitation by some groups – things like lack of funds for parking fees, alternate language options and fully accessible amenities. Staff have been on this quest for a long time, but this collaborative program adds additional resources to those efforts while simultaneously shining a light on each of our diverse properties’ cool-factor.

Visit our Experience the Outdoors Program web page, with links to all three associated campaigns: A Rad Regional Parks event series, a Ride On Mountain Biking Challenge and a Parks 101: First-timer Series
