Being a beginner is better than an expert in this new series dedicated to sharing recreation tips, tricks and best practices. Our knowledgeable staff are eager to provide you with the info you need to feel confident in the great outdoors.
The Parks 101: First-timer Series is designed for those who are new, or who have never been exposed to outdoor recreation. Each activity is designed to build awareness of park properties, amenities and programs, while developing individuals’ comfort, self-confidence, resourcefulness and preparedness in nature.
It's a hands-on, back-to-basics approach to education that helps to
provide new opportunities for San Diegans to learn outdoor skills like
how to hike, bike, rock climb, camp, fish, kayak and canoe, without
the burden of having to pay for the class or purchase
equipment.
There is no cost to attend, and registration will only be required for classes that necessitate the use of borrowed equipment. Translation assistance is available upon request. Details will be included in all event flyers.
