Fishing at Lake Morena

Lake Morena County Park is located at 2550 Lake Morena Drive, Campo, CA 91906.

The lake is open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. All boats must be off the lake by 5:30 p.m.

General Information

  • The current surface water temperature is approx. 65°F.
  • Live bait fish and crayfish are prohibited.
  • A California State Fishing License is required to fish.

News and Events

  • The lake is fully open for boating and fishing.
  • Trout, catfish, and carp are being caught throughout the lake.
  • Lake depth is approximately 49 feet.
  • Boat rentals must be reserved by 12:00 p.m.
  • The lower boat launch is open. 
  • All vessels must pass a quagga mussel inspection prior to launch.
  • The lake level is receding. Please be aware of new islands, boulders, and other obstructions while boating.

Highlights

  • Catfish caught mostly on mackerel and chicken liver around rock outcroppings across from docks.
  • 4,800 lbs of rainbow trout were stocked January though March 2026.
  • Bass and bluegill bites have increased with warmer temperatures.
