Located in the San Diego County community of Lakeside, Cactus County Park presents a unique mix of recreational opportunities. Covering 59.58 acres, Cactus County Park features a 1-mile trail, ball fields and an air strip for radio-controlled airplanes. There’s also a bicycle motocross (BMX) track, operated by an outside leaseholder. Restrooms are also available.
The ball fields are available for non-organized play only when they are not in use by the Pony League or Girls Softball Association. To use the fields for organized play, please call (619) 667-6833. For more information about the BMX track, please call (619) 443-1666.
NOTE: Alcoholic drinks are not allowed at Cactus County Park.
County Parks is pleased to share that recent upgrades at Cactus County Park include a full playground replacement featuring new play structures designed children ages 2–5, with select inclusive play elements such as an orbit spinner and softball-themed steppers suitable for ages 2–12, as well as new rubberized safety surfacing, ADA parking improvements, a shade structure, renovations to the girls' softball field dugouts, replacement of field fencing, improved bleacher shade, and new sports field lighting funded by a San Diego River Conservancy grant.
New Restrooms
Construction is starting on a new restroom facility at Cactus County Park. The project includes a new prefabricated, 2 stall ADA-accessible restroom to replace one of the park's existing restrooms near the park entrance, along with improvements to nearby ADA parking and walkways.
The restroom will be inoperable for the duration of construction, with the new facility expected to open by the end of the year. The restrooms near the fields will remain open throughout construction.
This project is funded in part by a San Diego River Conservancy grant.
