On July 29, the County officially opened a newly revitalized outdoor space at Heritage County Park. The park’s upper lawn has undergone a transformation to include more inclusive, accessible pathways, an outdoor meeting space and a new wedding gazebo in anticipation of upcoming Heritage Park Historic Inn renovations.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was followed by an historic talk about Heritage County Park and an informational tour of the anticipated Historic Inn renovation project. Wedding themed lawn games helped celebrate the new wedding gazebo and Park Rangers were on site hosting a nature discovery table and our animal ambassadors.
The garden enhancement project includes the addition of ADA accessible walkways and parking, safety lighting, and new plants, irrigation, and lawn improvements.
Following direction from the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, Heritage County Park’s historic homes will be thoughtfully retrofitted as unique overnight accomodations while preserving their Victorian exteriors. The renovations will include 22 rooms across four of the seven existing buildings. The garden enhancements are in anticipation of this expansion project.
