August 19, 2026, marks a remarkable milestone for the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation: 80 years of serving our community, preserving nature, and providing spaces for all to play, relax, and connect.
Since 1946, we have proudly managed the County’s parks, trails, and recreational facilities. Now, as we celebrate our 80th anniversary, we invite you to join us for a year filled with special events, staff stories, and opportunities to reflect on the legacy and future of the County Department of Parks and Recreation.

Throughout 2026, we’re hosting a series of special events across the county to commemorate this historic occasion. The event calendar includes park festivals, guided nature hikes, history tours, volunteer opportunities and family-friendly celebrations.
