Upcoming Closures

The park will be closed on June 27 and June 28 for a special event. There will be limited access for event set-up and breakdown June 25 and June 29. For more information, call (619) 232-7275.

Parking

Street parking and pay lots are available nearby. We recommend using public transportation. San Diego MTS: Trolley – Little Italy trolley stop; Bus – Routes 280, 290, 923, and 992.

North and South Fountain Jets

Construction on the North and South Fountains is complete, and the pools are currently operational. The fountain jets themselves are still under repair, with an estimated completion date of July 2026.

About the Park

Waterfront Park is a popular place for both locals and visitors. It is the most important waterfront open space in downtown San Diego. At the park's center is the landmark County Administration Center, with interactive splash fountains and large green lawns that span the park.

Recreation Area - North

The northern part of the park offers an off-leash dog park, pickleball courts, basketball court, fitness equipment, table tennis, restroom, native plant garden, and park information booth. Stop by the info booth for equipment loans (chess, bocce, pickleball, basketball, table tennis).

Playground - South

The southern part of the park offers a children's play zone, picnic areas, chess tables, bocce ball courts, restrooms, and a snack bar.

Events and Activities

Waterfront Park hosts many classes, events and activities for all ages throughout the year, including Summer Movies in the Park and Pages in the Park, family-friendly concerts and special events, and fitness classes. View our Event Calendar to learn about upcoming events.

Reservable Areas

The Park offers an expansive space that can accommodate special events of many sizes, including concerts, festivals, farmer's markets, birthdays, weddings and anniversaries.

Six Civic Greens provide open multi-use areas for events and everyday use. Picnic areas can be reserved near or in the children’s play zone. The state-of-the-art play zone accommodates small groups and occasions.
