October Was Packed with Fall Fun!

County Parks offered an incredible lineup of fall adventures this past October — from ranger-led hikes and spooky trails to festivals, campouts, and the return of our fan-favorite HAWKTOBER!

HAWKTOBER

This year’s HAWKTOBER soared with 16 live raptor presentations, drawing over 2,500 visitors who had the chance to meet hawks, owls, and falcons up close while discovering how these incredible birds are built to hunt and thrive. Raptors, or birds of prey, survive by hunting and feeding on other animals such as rodents, rabbits, and reptiles. As top predators, their powerful beaks, sharp talons, and exceptional eyesight make them expert hunters.

October Hike-A-Thon

In partnership with Live Well San Diego and Nature Unplugged , DPR hosted a Hike-A-Thon event that included five Saturday ranger-led hikes throughout the month. There were 335 attendees that joined our rangers to explore some of San Diego County’s most scenic spots, from Annie’s Canyon along the coast to Santa Ysabel Nature Center in the mountains!
