County Parks offered an incredible lineup of fall adventures this past October — from ranger-led hikes and spooky trails to festivals, campouts, and the return of our fan-favorite HAWKTOBER!
This year’s HAWKTOBER soared with 16 live raptor presentations, drawing over 2,500 visitors who had the chance to meet hawks, owls, and falcons up close while discovering how these incredible birds are built to hunt and thrive. Raptors, or birds of prey, survive by hunting and feeding on other animals such as rodents, rabbits, and reptiles. As top predators, their powerful beaks, sharp talons, and exceptional eyesight make them expert hunters.
Throughout the month, visitors joined us at parks across the region for 5 hike-a-thon events, 16 Hawktober events, 1 Women in the Wild Campout, 1 Women in the Wild Intro to Bouldering event, 3 haunted trails, and 9 community festivals with an estimated attendance of over 12,000 people overall!
And we knew to get ready, our Facebook post for Haunted Trails got 160,721 views and Spooky Festivals got 80,031 views helping us gain 600 new followers – all in just 4 days!
Thank you to all staff, rangers, and volunteers who helped make October a month to remember! Your efforts brought the community together and made fall truly magical across our parks.
