National Trails Day, hosted by American Hiking Society, is your chance to connect with nature, your community, and the trails you love. On June 7, join us and outdoor enthusiasts nationwide in celebrating this annual day of action. Whether you’re cleaning up public lands, volunteering for trail maintenance, or simply enjoying the great outdoors responsibly, your efforts make a lasting impact. Let’s leave our trails and outdoor spaces better than we found them!
Hike and Volunteer at Dictionary Hill County Park | 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Dictionary Hill features a 2.1-mile trail with 360-degree views of San Diego. The hike is considered moderate, so bring plenty of water and a good pair of hiking shoes. The service project will involve invasive plant removal along the trail so be sure to bring a pair of gardening gloves and sun/safety glasses.
Nurturing our Trees at El Monte County Park | 9 a.m.

We’ll be spreading mulch and watering trees, followed by a bird hike! This is a fun tree-planting party that you and your family will love. This event is open to the whole family; all ages are welcome. Bring work gloves, a hat, sunscreen, a water bottle, and snacks and to wear sturdy closed-toed shoes and long pants.

Morning Hike | Wilderness Gardens County Preserve | 9 - 11 a.m.

Tour the County’s first open space preserve in this popular trek. View a historically significant grinding stone used by Native Americans and one of the first grist mills in Southern California. This 1.5-mile walk is easy and family-friendly. Extend your day by continuing to hike or enjoy a picnic in picturesque Pauma Valley.
Morning Ranger-Led Hike | San Dieguito County Park | 10 - 11 a.m.

Put on your hiking boots and make your coffee or tea to go so you can join us for a ranger-led 1-to-2-mile walk through the trail system at San Dieguito County Park. During our walk, we’ll discuss the history of the land, observe and learn about native plants and animals, cross a suspension bridge and take in elevated views of the park from lookout towers.
