For a limited time, hikers, bikers and equestrians have special access to parts of the Ramona Grasslands County Preserve that are usually closed to the public. The Saturday morning tours, led by volunteer docents and/or park staff, last 2 hours and venture through northwest sections of the preserve via a trail called Old Survey Road.
Each excursion provides a unique look at local history, plants and wildlife. Tour guides can also answer questions about the preserve, and share information on resident birds of prey.
There is no cost to participate but spots are limited; you MUST register in advance.
Please arrive by 9:30 a.m. Tours start promptly at 10 a.m.
Ramona Grasslands Preserve is located in the unincorporated township of Ramona, west of State Route 67. Take Highland Road east to Rangeland Road. Follow Rangeland Road all the way to the end, and follow the signs for parking. There is no street address.
Call ahead if you have questions, at (760) 788-3326, or visit the park page.
