Egg-cellent Activities in Parks

We're filling our spring calendar with a fun mix of family activities, from a creative craft fair and vibrant spring festival to ample opportunities to hunt for eggs, enjoy breakfast and take photos with a famous bunny. Here’s a list of pastel-decorated holiday happenings you’re sure to want to hop to this March and April.

March 16:

Hop to Ramona from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for Dos Picos County Park's Eggstravaganza where a bounce house, scavenger hunt, craft activities and more will prep your kids, ages 11 and under, for the main event: An egg hunt! Participants should be ready with a basket or bag to capture all of their colorful lawn treasures.

Also beginning at 10 a.m., Lakeside Community Center is hosting a Spring Craft Fair at Lindo Lake County Park, complete with vendor booths, crafting, games and giveaways, a DJ, food trucks, an opportunity drawing, and more. Guests of all ages will find something to enjoy at this community affair through 1 p.m.!

March 23:

Some-bunny special is coming to Fallbrook Community Center for Breakfast with the Bunny. Start your day with a hot pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m., followed by pictures with a long-eared VIP. Kids should be fed and fueled up when the popular egg hunt commences at 10:30 a.m.!

Ready…set… it’s another breakfast event! Create al fresco dining memories at Otay Lakes County Park where staff are kicking things off with fresh food and bunny photos at 9:30 a.m., followed by controlled chaos in the form of an 11:30 a.m. egg hunt. The party isn't over until every colorful prize is found!

March 24:

Our second Eggstravaganza takes place at Felicita County Park in Escondido from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. An egg hunt, arts and crafts, games, face painting and a light breakfast are all part of this festive event, and afterward, north county kids will love exploring the park's open lawns, play equipment and short creek trail.

March 30:

Head south to Potrero County Park to enjoy desert-scape, scenic trails and a ranger team with some very special animal ambassadors. On March 30, the team is hosting our third Eggstravaganza from 9 to 10:30 a.m., where kids ages 2 to 13 can participate in an egg hunt, and everyone can partake in a variety of springtime activities and creative crafts.

Fetch your kids and their baskets to seek hundreds of eggs hidden at Louis A. Stelzer County Park during their Umpteenth Annual Egg Hunt, beginning promptly at 10 a.m. After the hunt, hang out for pictures with a photogenic bunny and enjoy a hike or picnic in the park. NOTE: This is a popular event, and the eggs are gone fast! Some lucky kids may even find a remaining leprechaun from the previous holiday, lingering in the park – if so, bring it to the Ranger Office for a personal ‘pot of gold’!

March 31:

At the end of the month, you are cordially invited to a springtime lawn party at El Monte County Park where an Egg Hunt has been slated for 2 p.m. and guests will have opportunities to meet live animals while chatting with park rangers about local wildlife. Pack a picnic and plan to spend your afternoon at this community-centric park – one of the oldest in the County system!

April 13:

Our final spring fling is one you’re going to want to scramble out to in Spring Valley... Community Center staff have coordinated an egg hunt for the kids in addition to hands-on activities like holiday-themed crafts and games. There will be free meals and toys for the young ones and great photo opportunities that parents will cherish for years to come from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.!
